Foil Highlights in Arlington, MA

Foil highlights from colorists who have been getting blonde right in Arlington since 1991. Precise placement, healthy lightening, and a custom toner on every single set.

Foils give you control that freehand painting can’t. By isolating each woven piece in its own packet, your colorist decides exactly how bright the result goes and exactly where it lands — which is what makes highlights the right choice when you want real, unmistakable brightness or crisp, defined dimension rather than a soft blend. Every set is finished at the bowl with a toner mixed for your shade, because lifting is only half the job.

Why Jacqui's

Brightness, placed on purpose

Anyone can lift hair. The difference is in the weave — how fine the sections are, how close to the root they start, and how the pattern follows your part and your cut instead of a fixed formula. Weave too heavy and it stripes. Start too far from the root and it’s grown out before you’ve left the block.

Then there’s the toner, which is where most highlights are won or lost. We tone every set to your shade rather than reaching for the same formula twice, because the same lightener behaves differently on every head of hair. It’s why clients drive in from across Greater Boston for their blonde, and why so many have sat in the same chair for years.

Good To Know

Highlights Questions, Answered

How much do highlights cost in Arlington?

Partial highlights start at $130 with a junior stylist and $150 with a senior stylist. Full highlights start at $200 junior and $250 senior. A few face-framing foils start at $90, and a few scattered foils start at $75. Every set includes a custom toner.

Both are fully licensed and trained in-house on the same techniques. Senior stylists have more years behind the chair, so their column books up faster and their prices sit higher. The lightening, foiling and toning method is identical — which is why plenty of clients start with a junior stylist and then stay with them for years.

Partial foils the top and sides, where brightness shows when your hair is down. Full foils the entire head including underneath, so the brightness still reads when you wear it up or switch your part. If you’re going noticeably lighter, choose full.

A partial usually runs about two hours and a full closer to three, depending on your length and density. Foiling is slower than freehand painting because every piece is woven and wrapped individually, and toning adds time at the bowl.

Highlights give brighter, more uniform lift and crisper dimension, because each piece is isolated in foil. Balayage is painted freehand for a softer, more blended grow-out. Want maximum brightness? Foils. Want low upkeep? Balayage. Plenty of clients alternate between the two.
